The Macomb Mahogany has returned to stock after a brief absence. Fourteen customers inquired about it during the period it was unavailable. Harold noted each inquiry. He considers this a good sign about the Mahogany and a useful data point about customer patience, which he found, on balance, adequate.
Parking on Randolph Street remains a situation. The construction on the north end of the block is, according to the city, approximately three weeks from completion. It has been approximately three weeks from completion since April. Harold has no additional information. Gary drove around the block twice on Tuesday and found a spot on Lincoln. He was late opening the register by four minutes. Harold noted this.
The sidewalk sale previously announced for the third Saturday of this month will not be taking place. Harold has reconsidered. Harold reconsidered approximately thirty seconds after announcing it. The announcement was Gary's idea. Harold does not hold this against Gary. Gary had good intentions. The sidewalk sale is not happening.
Gary has asked us to include a note that he is not retiring. This is in response to a rumor circulating among regular customers that Gary is retiring. Gary is not retiring. Gary has no plans to retire. Gary would like to be clear about this. Harold has no comment on Gary's retirement status. Harold says Gary's employment situation is between Gary and the Emporium and declines to elaborate.
Stanisław V completed his weekly inspection of the new shipment on Tuesday. The shipment passed. Stanisław V's inspection was, by his own standards, brief — approximately four minutes compared to his historical average of eleven. This has been noted. We are monitoring the situation. Stanisław V appears healthy and in good spirits. His reduced inspection time may reflect efficiency rather than diminished rigor. We are choosing to believe this.
Harold would like to remind customers that store hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The store is closed Sundays and most federal holidays. Harold observes Columbus Day. Harold does not wish to explain why he observes Columbus Day. He simply does. Gary does not observe Columbus Day. This has never been a problem because Gary is not the one who sets the hours.
